Pam Bondi will spend her first full day as U.S. attorney general Thursday traveling to New Orleans to survey security of the Super Bowl game this Sunday, Fox News has learned.
Her trip is part of an effort to highlight the administration’s broader commitment to crack down on violent crime and acts of terrorism.
Bondi will be accompanied by Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry, the Justice Department said, and she will meet with multiple law enforcement groups at the federal and local level, including DOJ components and the FBI field office.

Her visit comes less than two months after a man used a vehicle to ram through crowds on Bourbon Street in New Orleans early on New Year’s Day, killing at least 14 people and injuring more than 30 others in what FBI officials said was being investigated as an act of terrorism.
While in New Orleans, Bondi plans to conduct briefings during the visit related to preventing another terrorist attack in New Orleans, DOJ officials told Fox News.
She will also meet with other state and local officials in downtown New Orleans at 2 p.m. local time.
The visit comes as Bondi looks to move on her Day One priorities as the nation’s top prosecutor – among them, cracking down on terrorist-linked or inspired attacks on U.S. soil.

Bondi, a former Florida attorney general and longtime prosecutor, was confirmed by the Senate earlier this week in a 54-46 vote. Her nomination earned the praise of more than 110 former senior Justice Department officials, including former attorneys general and dozens of Democratic and Republican state attorneys general, who praised her experience and work across party and state lines in letters previewed exclusively by Fox News Digital.
Bondi’s former colleagues in Florida also told Fox News Digital they expect her to bring the same playbook she used in Florida to Washington, this time, with an eye toward cracking down on drug trafficking, cartel activity, and violent crime at the national level.
Federal, state and local law enforcement agencies have coordinated one of the largest security efforts in Super Bowl history to protect attendees at Sunday’s game, which will be attended by President Donald Trump and a litany of other high-profile guests.
The massive security effort will involve an on-the-ground presence of thousands of law enforcement personnel, officials said, as well as airspace restrictions, road closures, and more – all designed to ensure the safe protection of the city’s residents and the more than 120,000 visitors expected to flock into town for the event.
